Wow! I've had one of those bizarrely productive days I read about on other people's blogs, but never quite believe are real. I've typed "The End" on the first draft of "The Fairy Killers" and am madly happy about how it turned out. I cooked, with wholly horrific results. I cycled. I cleaned. I bought vegan ice-cream. Congratulations!
I am currently waiting to watch Daredevil on some format other than Netflix, or waiting until Netflix has it on discs. I am looking forward to that, and also to getting my hands on the first season of True Detectives.

Wow, definitely watch True Detective first. Use the subtitles so you don't miss half the stuff Rusty says. He has the best lines, but the worst diction...

I pretty much gave up on superheroes forever when the unwatchable Watchmen was watched.

Cliche's + unremitting boredom... and critically hailed as the next great step.

BTW, your take on the puppies doesn't shock me. I know you disagree with basically all I think about the left / right divide, but you are otherwise a person with intelligence and discernment*, and most people in that group are able to recognize that the genre has definitely gotten stale. What was fresh and exciting for the new wave writers is now 50 years old...

It might surprise you to know that, while I welcome their tactics (a shakeup was needed, even if it's a bit of an extreme one), I am dismayed by some of the lunatics they've allied themselves with.

And yes, some of the stories on that slate are terrible, terrible insults to anyone who's ever written anything more involved than a shopping list.

*or at least effectively imitate one.
