Museums and marketing (sigh) blacktulip1 September 11 2011, 18:24:28 UTC
Oh yes, I definitely feel a(nother) letter coming on.

What IS it with museums and marketing, don't they WANT our money? Yesterday I went to a local(ish) museum, to see an exhibition of women's accessories from 1830-1940. Nice little exhibition, and lying around was a museum copy of a book, published by National Museums Liverpool (i.e. the 'owners' of the museum), about a collection they have of one lady's clothes from 1900 - 1940. I trotted eagerly down to the shop to get my hot little hands on a copy, only to be told by the very apologetic lady in the shop that they had sold out some time ago, and she couldn't get any more!!??? She reckoned that she could have sold at least 50 copies, and the exhibition still has 3 months to run. As NML have a couple of other costume-related exhibitions either on or starting soon, it's hardly as if there would only be limited interest.

So, two letters to write!
