Video of Hometown

It finally happened! Someone posted a video of my hometown on YouTube this week. :) The quality isn't great but maybe you'll enjoy it. Or at least like the REAL country music playing in the background. I don't know the name of the singer. Many fun memories flashing on the video, including the roller skating rink, bowling alley and water park I ( Read more... )

Lovely little town! Just dream place to live for me. Much more spacious as the similar size towns in UK, wider roads, not so many cars parked along all the roads. And your house isn't so small for UK standard: we couldn't even put a diner table into our kitchen Many here have no diner tables and have to eat on their laps. I admired your beautiful family and wish all of them the very best. My husband would be so happy to have the garage your Dad has - he loves his tools as well and can fix everything, too

Thanks for the nice words. In America, we're spoiled with lots of space. Huge roads, homes and even most apartments are quite large compared to European standards. I've been to the UK several times and love the smaller towns, especially Bath.

Not only apartments but doors, refrigerators, washing machines ... almost everything is bigger or wider.
That's funny.

And also I've heard, true or not, that Americans travelling to Europe feel uncomfortable when temperature changes.
In America air conditioners are everywhere and all tuned to 70 F :)

Yes, we must have cool spaces! :) I cannot stand being hot. Even when I was in Russia in February, I had to open the window because my friend's apartment was so hot and there was no way to individually control the temperature. My apartment thermostat is set at 68F in summertime and in winter I never cut on the heat.

I did :) - http://peacetraveler22.livejournal.com/20517.html. The first part is about my childhood home and family, but the last part is about the town. I'll try to write about other places in Manassas in the future. I lived there most of my life.

I'm happy to have seen the video of your town as well. Of course, there are many entertaining YouTube videos from Russia, but more are of scary drivers or drunk gopniks. :) Yours was more pleasant.
