"Ours, the best!" - about Russian women

It's very strange for a foreigner to see this statement repeated over and over again in the Russian blogosphere. It's like some type of brainwashing or programming in the minds of men and women there - that "ours" are simply the best, most beautiful! Almost all of my friends are men, many from different countries, and I have not heard any other

I prefer to put it as a sort of self awareness - Russian women are the best, since they manage to deal with us, Russian men. :D

It seems Russians think women must be beautiful, so they have to use all this make-up, high-heel, tight dresses, mini-skirts. And they really do it a lot. So feeling comfortable and accepting your body as it is are not the priorities, the most important is to look beautiful (for men, of course). That may explain why Russians often judge western women that are "ugly" for them, because don't use make-up and all this stuff all the time.

I think that in Russia, there is just a much more narrow definition of beauty. In the U.S., some women walk around painted, in short skirts and heels also, but definitely not the majority. Here - thick, thin, short, tall...there is an admirer for every type, not just skin and bones. :) Honestly, when I see such women in Russia walking on ice in heels, mini skirts...it just looks completely ridiculous, and I feel quite sorry for them actually. Btw, I want to say that if it is your photo on the avatar, you are really beautiful. I like this natural, kind look in females. :)

I agree with you completely. it seems that there is only one standard of beauty, so everybody should try to become a barbie-girl, at least, before marriage, then a woman may bury herself in the house routine, become fat and ugly (which are kind of synonyms in Russia, I guess).

No, but the older a man becomes the more beautiful one can see :)
Look at Kira Knightly or Kristin Scott Tomas, they are nice, but their beauty is of a cold type. Compare to Penelopa Cruz (Spanish) - the same "parameters" but she is hot.

Clearly this is a human feature to look for similar. Thus the more differences from "Russian" look the less attractive for me.
Anyway, Russian men are not the best and might be worst and Russian women would agree with you  :D
