This is our neighborhood joint. We eat here at least once a week, sometimes twice, and all the other servers are good. She's a new waitress, so if other customers complain like me, she will not be there long. Bad for business. :)
You're such a capitalist. :) Of course service staff must get paid at least $15 an hour + obligatory tips. They feel grateful and provide a great service. Or so I heard from dem friends.
Yes, I know "joint". No, I'm not a user in both meanings. For many years on Wednesdays I go to the same place eating the same stuff. That's it with restaurants. But no service - no tips.
We left her only $2 tip on a $30 bill. I will not tip if service is bad, even though I understand this is the primary way American servers earn money. It must be one system or the other - higher hourly salary/no tips, or low hourly salary/tip based on quality of service. Not both. :) Though I'm not sure which is better from either the consumer or server standpoint. Most Americans tip well, but foreigners rarely do. They usually have no clue about the disparity in pay wages with American waiters/waitresses, or that they earn such a low hourly salary, relying solely on tips to survive.
That was really our shock when we found out how price for dining out is formed: price menu + 15-20% of tips + state sales tax. 15-20% for tips it's too much for Europeans and Russians:)
Yes, we have an entirely different system here. But be nice to our restaurant servers if they are good and tip them well. It's my request to readers as a former waitress. :)

Several times I had a talk on the topic service with the owners of small hotels. All of them loved the russian tourists because they are undemanding. For example, a Swede smiles more wide smile, uses more polite figures of speech, but when he receives a letter from booking.com with the request to assess the hotel, the smile leaves face the Swede. If he was unhappy with anything, he fucks the hotel and its owner hard. Russian mostly unfamiliar with really good service, so they are not so picky.

Sure, that's why nothing ever changes there, or changes very slowly. :) If you don't expect or demand good service, what's the motivation to deliver it? I write both good and bad reviews on TripAdvisor.com. Most people write only when they have complaints. :)

The text isn't illiterate, I understood fine. Btw, I want to say this situation is analogous to my male friends who date high maintenance women, continue to pay for everything and buy expensive gifts, and then complain that the bitches deplete their bank accounts. :)) You must tame these women in the beginning or not date this particular type, otherwise nothing ever changes. Or women who constantly date bad boys, then complain about bad behavior. There's a famous saying - "What you put up with, is what you end up with..." This wise and simple proverb is true for all aspects of life. Loving, eating or fucking. :))
What a nightmare those Hooters' waitress uniforms are! :)) I don't like my legs, so would never wear booty shorts like that, at any age. In fact, I never wear shorts at all.
