One more reason why kids are awesome. And often right. i've been told by littles "You should be a mom," and just smiled and hugged harder.

You ARE a magic person. i've been noting/getting notes from you so much in the past two days that i've got to tell you, you've been part of me being happy post-xmas. i told my mom a little about you today; she knows about you GENERALLY, but i mean i told her about Peace House and also that in my head, sometimes you are her and sometimes you are he but you are always Danni. You know that i will use whatever pronouns fit you best, but you are SO FLUID, just like you said, that sometimes i can't nail you down to just one! :) Most of the time that purple-haired person is just DANNI to me. And needing of hugs cause i miss you.

I love you, Alix. You make me happy. Seriously, every day I wake up and know you're out there is a better day than it would've been without that. I wish I could pack you up and take you to Indianapolis with me. I'm glad we're LJ friends so I kind of can.

That's what I do in my head too, with the pronouns. Sometimes I'm "she" because I was "she" for 20 years, and most people still think I'm "she", and I'm not not "she"...that just isn't enough to say who I am, and I don't like the box it puts me in if people assume I'm "she" just because of the way my body's shaped, so I prefer to tell people I'm not "she" and I prefer for people not to assume that I'm "she", because it's easier to explain who I am starting from "not she" than it is to start from "well, there is SOME 'she' but that's not all", especially in the body I'm in.

I want to meet your mom. :)

i hope you don't mind that i read this out loud to her, this comment, because i was so struck by it. i'm glad i got you kind of right, with the pronouns... i hate to assume that i have the right to name you, you know? Cause i don't. So i'm excited that i'm reading you the right way--that we connect well on that end.

My mom says that if you're going to Indianapolis, you should meet a woman named Linda Mielke (pronounced Milky). She's the director of the public libraries there (guess how my mom knows her?) and a really, really awesome person. My mom could shoot off an email to introduce you; she'd be a good person to know, just for life stuff.

Also, my mom insists that DC is totally not far away at all and that it is SOOOOO possible to hook up with you and hang out. (i have the feeling she is doing this cause SHE is excited to meet you now :D) Would you like to come -here-? i don't know the city very well, but i could theoretically come get you and bring you here.

I'll let you know when I know for sure exactly what time we're arriving in D.C...I dunno if I'll have time to come out there since I'll only have a couple hours of free time, but you can probably come hang out with me in D.C and then come to my concert! I'll call you when I can...my phone doesn't get reception at Matt's farm in the middle of nowhere, but I'll be back in civilization at the end of the...year. ;-)

And I would be absolutely HONORED to be connected with the director of public libraries in Indianapolis. Librarians are my HEROES.

I'll believe you're a boy if you tell me you're a boy!

I can't help with the violin part, though. :(

when my hair is funky colors the responses from random children are always the best.

kids always think it's PRETTY, not STRANGE.
and they're not afraid to comment on it, which is great.
adults are always like: "whadya do to yer hair?"
and kids are like: "your hair is blue and pretty!!!"

A week and a half ago, I dyed my hair dark brown to get rid of the last few pinkish-tinged streaks that STILL didn't fade out (8-10 shampoos my arse), and I had to babysit that night. So, as I was helping the 4 year old into his blanket sleeper, he rested his hand on my shoulder for support and my hair brushed his hand. "Um...Sarah..." "Yes, Brendan?" "Your hair feels uh...good." "Thank you." This is the same little guy who invited me sledding with him at 7:30 pm when it was pitch black and FREEZING out. I said no, due to my lack of snowpants, and he said "Ok, next time, bring your snowpants, so that you can have your snowpants, and you can put your snowpants on, and you can sled with me, because you'll have snowpants." The little bugger makes me happy.
