First icon tutorial!!
Using Photoshop 7.0 (easily translatable)

Going from

to



01:
Crop your image to 100x100 pixels.
Sharpen once: Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen

02:
Create a new layer: Layer >> New >> Layer
Fill with a dark blue, I used #0E053C.
Set this layer to "Exclusion", opacity at 60%.

03:
Create a new layer.
Fill with a light tan, I used #F5E5AE.
Set as "Multiply", opacity at 30%.

03:
Create a new layer.
Fill with a soft pink, I used #F5AEEA.
Set as "Soft Light", opacity at 30%.

04:
Create a new layer.
Fill with a soft blue, I used #CCDCF6.
Set as "Colorburn", opacity at 100%.

05:
Create a new layer.
Fill with a texture, I used This One by ??? (tell me if you know)
Set as "Screen", opacity at 100%

06:
Create a new layer.
Fill with #FFFFFF.
Set as "Overlay", opacity at 34%.

07:
Create a new adjustment layer: Layer >> New Adjustments Layer >> Brightness/Contrast
Settings as:
Brightness: +19
Contrast: +22
