So far so good! But now the sun's gone down you can see that most of the foothills are on fire, which is not good. The whole side of the ranges is just lit up all over the shop with flames. :(
Forty homes lost at last count. Which stinks infinitely more than my smokey hair. And my smokey hair really stinks.
A lot closer than I'd like to be right now! I can see the hills on fire from my house. It's super-windy and I have no clue if I need to be concerned or not. No direct alerts for my suburb yet, but all people within 25kms are being warned to be ready to leave. And I am about a kilometre from where they are evac-ing folks. :( I have to work tomorrow, damn it. Doesn't look like I'll be getting much sleep.
I've got the important stuff and animal relocation equipment near the front door. I don't think I'll have to use it. Put it this way...if I have to go, it means there'll be a lot more than forty houses going up in flames. :(
It is very nerve-wracking to know you are that close. I know exactly how it feels from where you are. Please keep yourself and your furries safe. Get a box for poor Pippy he'll be so much happier that way.

I'm so sorry.
The thought of Pippy, the dogs and you all driving out of town worries me a bit.
*bites lip*
Be well and safe.

I really shouldn't have to use it. But I'd rather feel foolishly over-prepared than be caught out.
