0440 Hours: SNAFU.

OH HAI THAR EXCRUCIATING AND NOT ENTIRELY UNPREDICTABLE URINARY TRACT INFECTION. Thank you for seizing the early hours of Sunday on a long weekend to make me start PISSING BLOOD. I wasn't in the middle of a busy night shift on admissions AT ALL. The Shifty LOVED sending me home in the middle of that. NO, REALLY ( Read more... )

I had one last week and have some left over Cipro that I can send you. Otherwise, water and Cranberry juice is what my doc told me. Not very helpful, sorry.

Cipro? This is new. I do not know this. And I thought I knew everything there was to know about UTIs.

I spent yesterday in hospital hooked up to an IV though, so clearly I am talking through my arse.

It's just an antibiotic. Nothing special. When I get UTIs I get high fevers with them and all my joints and muscles ache. If you were at the hospital, they probably already gave you something. I hope you're feeling better.

teehee...you said arse.

I can maybe suggest a preventative; cranberry pills. I used to get UTI's a lot then I started taking cranberry vitamins and I've been UTI-free for about 8 years now. I do still drink a shot of cranberry (straight up, no alcohol) every day, just because.

But yeah, sorry I can't make suggestions on how to rid you of this at the present. Yikes.. I do know it sucks though, so for what it's worth (and that ain't much), you have my sympathies.

I think I definitely need to make cranberry a daily edition to my life.

Your eight years UTI-free sounds pretty divine right about now. Thanks for the tip!

Since you don't have any cranberry juice, try mixing 1/2 tsp of baking soda in a glass of water. Something about the baking soda and acid and something or another.

Oh, that sounds like well researched advice.

*wtf face*

I think I was beyond even baking soda at that point. I spent yesterday in the hospital being irrigated like a Japanese rice field and lectured on the importance of NOT PEEING BLOOD.

I think I get it now.

Sorry, no ideas to give you at all :(

Just my sympathy 'cause ouch! Hope it clears up quickly.

I'm still feeling a bit lousy, but a lot better today. Granted, that's after I spent yesterday in the ER hooked up to an IV.

*points to self* True blue idiot. Right here.

Yeah, I have no suggestions, other than to say rest, drink a lot of water, and try to relax until you can get your hands on some juice. :( Sorry hun. Feel better!
