...we're comin' on down the line. There are no BRAKES on this train, and it's a wobbly ass piece of shit, but yeah... three scenes to go and I have a completed draft to play with.
Ah, wordies. Why for you no match the picture thingies in my head? *forces round pegs in square holes*
You always say that, but maybe this IS your process. It's supposed to be all wonky and round peg-gy. Sure, it makes you crazy, but it works! If it ain't broke, don't fuck with it!
I agree with Kim! Go with whatever works, dude. There is no *normal* in the world of ficcing. Or writing in general. The finish line is in sight - just keep on wobbling!
Oh, dude. I do believe you are correct. I wish there was a more economical way to write. Rather than, you know, writing every scene WRONG a billion times, and then eventually having the light bulb go on at 4:23am. Which means I have to get up, flush my head in the toilet and then shotgun a triple espresso so that I wake up enough to write my epiphany down. And that generally leaves me just enough time to run about making myself horrendously late for work. With my arms flailing in the air above my head. Like a muppet.
I'm not sure I should be calling that a process. Maybe a pathology.
This train don't carry no liars, this train This train don't carry no liars, this train No hypocrites and no high flyers, this train This train is bound for glory, this train This train is bound for glory, this train Don't carry no one but the righteous and the holy This train
*g* couldn't resist (gospel music and lyrics here )
Sorry not to get back to you sooner--I've been away all week-- Of course, now that I actually look on youtube, there are a bunch of versions of "This Train Is Bound for Glory," by Woody Guthrie (not, like I thought, a traditional song, though everyone changes the words as if it were). Johnny Cash Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins Bob Dylan
The fic is set in Texas, right? so it might be appropriate--
