Tucson Festival of Books

This weekend I spent at the Tucson Festival of Books (TFoB), on the University of Arizona Mall. I can't stress enough what a wonderful, well-organized, and amazing celebration of reading and writing this is. Even more amazing is that it is entirely free, yes FREE!, to the public. I love Mercer Mayer! If you haven't seen them before, he's done a slew of books of fairy tales from all over the globe, and I really think his watercolor work is stunning. My favorite was a Celtic version of Sleeping Beauty. He also did the art for the book "Everyone Knows What A Dragon Looks Like," but wasn't the author, which I may have read hundreds of times as a kid.

And did you ever see his Amanda, Dreaming? That was **so** beautiful.

I've never seen anyone paint water droplets so well before or since.

I love his work, too. I haven't seen all of his fairytales, though. I'll have to look for them.
