I can never understand why people feel the need to have an opinion about the love life of consenting adults :(

Out of curiosity; is there a lot of anti-gay attitude in Ireland in your opinion? I've had the impression that there has been, at least, but I don't know how it is now. For example, I was told that there was a big uproar when Colm Tóibín published The Blackwater Lightship, since the book was supposedly one of the first to have openly gay characters.

not really any major problems anymore, there are gay pubs in Galway and an ironically located gay and lesbian nightclub once a month (not a big enough city/gay community to have a viable dedicated Gay night club) in the Black Box(a slang name for vagina, in case ye have not heard term) on the Dyke road.
there was an Article in one of the broadsheets a few weeks ago highlighting all the east european gay people that come over here to escape prejudice.
When my Dad was alive there was a lesbian couple and a few Gay men that drank in his local, my home is in the countryside and my GF was shocked that they were so open in the countryside and so accepted.
But like anywhere else in the world there are dumb b@$tards!
