*wince* Ah, man...I'm afraid I was of Batman's opinion that he was making a BIG mistake there. But, I suppose if he didn't, he wouldn't be Superman, now would he?

I rather think Batman's going to be seriously ticked off when - it /is/ going to be when, not if, right? :( - he finds out what happened.

Wonderful tension, this was. Sorry the site's giving you fits about it, but thanks for psoting it!

Thanks for saying so! *g* I'm very glad the tension I was trying to convey is vivid! Thanks!

But, I suppose if he didn't, he wouldn't be Superman, now would he?

Yes, that's exactly it! I totally agree with you about the wisdom (or lack thereof) of Superman's choice in that moment, but I think in a situation such as he finds himself in, it's also crucially important to be true to himself. I"m glad you see that, and agree!

I would have to say that you nailed Batman's probable reaction to knowledge of what transpired there. (and yes, it will be 'when' not 'if', fear not! I'm not that cruel a writer! Though it IS a close call.)

Thanks! :-)

Yikes! Clark is in HUGE trouble! I shudder to think of what lies ahead!

And that comment by the children about always being in the tunnels...were they born there? What a depressing thought!

I know, LJ doesn't like you, but could you try posting soon, pretty please? *bats eyelashes* ;)

Have to agree with your assessment about Clark's predicament, Brady. *shudders too*

The circumstances of the children - and nearly all of the civilian denizens of the underground lair - are rather complicated, and more will be revealed about that as we go along. *bwah ha ha*

*sighs* Yes, LJ detests me. (though it's more my job and other demands that take away from writing time. But having every posting be such an ordeal does tend to motivate me towards procrastination more, I must admit!) But I've got a good deal of the next part already written, and I will post it as soon as I possibly can! (I'm eager to get to the really exciting parts myself! Hee.)

eck! You do like your cliffhangers, don't you!

I still totally adore this. I write action so well and your Clark is perfect. Over this whole fic your have really highlighted his skills beyond the 'I can hit things really hard' angle (I hate it when he get portrayed so 1 dimensionally)

I have so many questions with regards to this fic, Most I think will be answered in later chapters. I'll be good and not pester you about them... yet.

All routes to escape keep getting inexorably closed off for Clark! You can almost feel the net tightening...it's very chilling. *shivers*

More soon, I hope! I'm going to email you about it, but just send it to me and I'll hard-code the HTML so you can, with any luck, post the whole thing at once...

I love the way you comment, Jen, as you keep highlighting crucial themes and points that I hope are clear, which is so cool. Yes, sadly for Kal, the noose is indeed tightening. (glad to hear you think it's chilling, as that is exactly what it's supposed to be, especially for Clark! And Bruce too.)

Thanks for your e-mail, AND for your very generous offer! (yes, I do waste FAR too many hours struggling to post, so I would love to take you up on your offer! But ... I rather worry that detract from your own writing, and that it would be a huge drain on your own precious time. But I will definitely consider your lovely proposal! (and I'll email you back as soon as I can.)

Thanks, my friend! (and I just hope this story is worth all this effort from so many. I worry about that sometimes.)

Take it easy getting back to your two-week term! (lucky!)

*hugs* Pax :-)

Oh, don't worry about the formatting issue for an instant! I may not be able to be there for you physically, but I do have some time to spare compared to you and the least I can do is put some of it toward helping your wonderful work get out in the form you want it to! Never worry about that. *hugs*

*huggles Clark*

He's going through so much! Trying so hard... but, of course, he wouldn't be Superman if he didn't. *pets him*

I loved his interactions with the children! And fighting the guards, even if that wasn't the best thing to do, it was the right thing to do. *pets him again*

But now he's trapped again! In the same room as Übermensch for an hour!! *frets* I so hope his luck will hold out... *hugs him again*

Another wonderful update! I hope you can post more soon! :D

I will do my best, Star! Working on the next part this weekend, if I can! (*sigh* So many stupid obligations, and weekends are SOOOOO short! Don't mean to whine, but it IS rather frustrating. But this part coming up is ... special, so I am going to make every effort.)

I'm thrilled you enjoyed Superman's interactions with Monique and Philippe! (even with all that French I worked hard for additional verisimilitude! (and to show more of Clark's awesome language ability, heh heh) Bien!) Adn the fight with the 'ghosts' - I like the way you put it: Not the best choice, but the right one. EXACTLY! And really , with his conscience, what else could Superman really do?

Yes, he is feeling none too secure about potential proximity to Ayestrom at last. *huggles Clark along with you* I'd be terrified myself! (May I say how impressed I am that you took the time and effort to spell Ayestrom's formal name so properly, even the umlaut [sic]? .. Wow.)

Thanks so much, Star - feedback like this means so very much to me!

Cheers!

Pax :-)
