FIC: "Necessary Force" Part 3 (JLA) (2nd half)

Oct 28, 2007 21:39

Hoy, all!

So, here's the second half of Part 3 of The Epic - sorry it took a week to work out the kinks and get it posted.  I've been dreadfully sick with cold and fever, and my poor brain and body ached too much to much revising or rushing to the library to get some online time.  Thanks for your patience, my friends!
I'm afraid I shall be having to ( Read more... )

OMG, Pax, I loved this! I printed out this chapter and the other chapter to read at work, and it felt like I was reading from a published novel! Your characterizations and descriptions here are perfect! Plastic Man is absolutely hilarious, I laughed so hard at all the jokes.

My favorite section in this chapter is your descriptions of Superman wearing a disguise and the emphasis on his wonderful, gorgeous eyes. You probably got a ton of comments over that part, but I just wanted to throw in how much I adored reading that part. If there's anything I love about Superman and Christopher Reeve the most, it's staring into those mesmerizing eyes... mmm.

And the eye jokes... OMG, they were totally hysterical!

I can't wait for your next installment! Surely you'll post the next part soon? Please? Or maybe just a tiny section of it that's ready? I honestly can't wait any longer...

Awww, Tina, you totally are a sweetheart. Thank you very much!

You actually went to the effort of printing out this part and taking it to work? Wow. I'm quite flattered! And then you say this: "it felt like I was reading from a published novel!" That is a very high compliment indeed! *blushes* Thanks!

I have to admit, I once had a daydream to not make this a fanfic at all, but to try to turn it into a 'real' novel manuscript and see if I could get an agent to send it to DC. *embarrassed flush* So your words are kinder than you can possibly have guessed. :-)

And you know what? I'm absolutely THRILLED at what you said about the jokes in this part! Wow! I was thinking they were pretty lame and, well, UNfunny myself, so to hear that someone actually laughed both surprised and delighted me to hear! *grins insanely* Thanks! I'm so glad you got a bit out of the humour I was aiming for. (especially those terrible 'Eye' puns I had Plas, Kyle, and Wally come up with!)

My favorite section in this chapter is your descriptions of ( ... )

Yup! I printed them out because I wanted to read them. I'd read them during my lunch breaks at work, which is why I took so long with feedback. And I was serious when I said I felt like I was reading from a published novel: Your writing reminded me of No Man's Land novel by Greg Rucka that I read last year. Very descriptive with excellent characterizations... only a professional DC Comics writer could write that well, and you're definitely one of them, in my opinion ( ... )

Oh my goodness, that icon is so precious! Awwwww. *cuddles super and bat puppies* Who did that? It's too cute for words.

Reading long fanfic works on your lunch breaks, eh? Cool way to keep caught up, I say! Wish I could get away with that.

And again, what a huge compliment to compare my little story with a professional novel like Rucka's (an author I admire as well) No Man's Land! I'm staggered ( ... )

I could finally read this, which I had been eager to do since you posted it (Oh, RL!). As I was expecting I loved it! I enjoyed the awesome dialogue, the great characterisation, the little details that make the picture come vividly to life... everything! But most of all, I loved Superman! To a Clark/Kal/Superman lover like me, it's a privilege to be able to read your stories and to find such an awesome depiction of my beloved superhero!

I loved the disguise scene, Superman's reactions to the comments, your description on the changes on his appearance, the little hints at his not being fully recovered... I can picture everything, as if I were watching a movie or reading a wonderful comic book. And I enjoy your comments to your feedback too!

I've seen that you've posted another part. I can't wait to read it!

This is such a fun chapter! Preparing Superman for undercover is a hoot.

“Hello,” Superman interrupted. “I am still in the room, you know.”For some reason or other, I see Clark saying that with amusement and affection, instead of annoyance like most people would. And I grinned from ear to ear when they asked Kyle for his "professional artistry" services, I know there's a reason why out of all the superheroes' civilian jobs, I like Kyle's the best (alongside with Clark :D ( ... )

Hee, thanks! Actually, I too thought it was a hoot too - and must admit this section was among my favourite to write!

For some reason or other, I see Clark saying that with amusement and affection, instead of annoyance like most people would. That's EXACTLY the way Clark answered, in my mind! He is very fond of his teammates, I think, and I think he would have wanted to set them at ease a bit too. Also, I think he DOES have a remarkable sense of humour, if often understated, and wanted to show that a little bit! *grin ( ... )

Hi again, Pax.

This chapter delves really carefully into the details of the planning and it is nice to see a bit of that kind of work that we don't often see in this level of detail in the comics.

I can't wait to see what happens in the execution of this plan...

Yay! (and also 'whew'!) I am always a bit worried that this level of 'detail' will bore the socks off my readers. So, it's really quite nice when I hear that someone is not only not bored, but finds it worthwhile to read about! (though admittedly I have to be careful to not let myself get TOO bogged down in the minutiae of such scenes - I might find it fascinating, but I doubt the average reader of comic book fanfiction would, LOL!)

As you have no doubt seen by now, the execution of the plan might not be working quite as well as the League hoped. (I think, despite having such brilliant members working on it, even the great strategist Batman, that their plan had a few holes in it. And, although not really their fault, they just may have underestimated their enemy in this instance.)

Thank you for the comment! (and wow, perfect icon that showcases Superman's desperation! Any chance I could gack that one from you??)
