"I used to go to the St. Jacob's market in university (Laurier), and it was always awesome....and dangerous. There was this amazing stand of Mennonite ladies selling pies and pie crusts...omg so goooood. Is the Bread Nazi still outside? This guy was like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, with people lining up and just saying "Rye!" or "Italian!" and he'd almost throw it at you. It was awesome. "

And somehow it ended up in one of Vestra's posts instead (wtf??) She was all, what are you talking about dude? Anyway, St. Jacob's, yay!

Heh, I can see where it may have been confusing to her, especially with the Bread Nazi reference.

Yeah he's TOTALLY still there. Girliatchy says that he's been there for as long as she's been going there, which goes back to the mid 80s at least!

Now he has all kinds of 3 for the price of 2 deals.

We also particularly enjoy the hummus from another stand. If garlic is suppoed to be as good for you as they say, we've added 20 years to our lives with only a small amount (and we've likely had a reasonably large amount over the past year). That's evened out by the Summer Sausage from the Mennonite stand not too far from there!

Awesome! There doesn't appear to be a Bread Nazi in Byward Market in Ottawa, alas. (mmm...summer sausage is yummy. Also, Mennonite pies!)
