I always feel like I'm being a little tongue in cheek whenever I mention him, but I think that yeah, he, or rather your representation of him, struck a cord. The sort of pseudometaphysical stuff about 'hyperreality' is overblown, but 'simulacra' and 'simulation' are pretty apt ways to talk about things I cynically suspect to be inauthentic, whether or not I'm right about it when I'm feeling it at a given time.
