For the most part, it's not that relationships are fleeting, it's really that almost all of them never even reach that level of being some kind of genuine relationship, genuine friendship. Acquaintance would better describe it, coworker even. It is that part that bothers me. I would much rather them to be fleeting but real.

Is it life-negating? I have thought of that at times. But there is something I keep coming back to: overall, I made a choice that my life is not about living it for me, for my comfort and my enjoyment; but rather, that I live my life in order to give something to humanity, to contribute something. And it is likely that such a life requires a kind of self-sacrifice, to, in a way, live in a life-negating way. But, then again, life-negating only if your goal in living is to live the way most people do, namely, just for their own personal enjoyments and comforts, for such a person may actually receive bountiful and uplifting feelings for his accomplishments, his contributions.
