Bleh. I disagree with his premise. Some folks don't get the joke. Their loss...

Oh, it makes sense in his own context-he's a copywriter, and he's accustomed to writing, and blogging, with a purpose. If you're writing ad copy to change people's minds, or a blog to attract attention and sell ads, then, yeah, humor can detract from your purpose.
