Cindy has Listeriosis. This is treatable, if they get the right antibiotic cocktail going. The whole family (UK side) met with the whole med team on her case this afternoon. We are "marginally more cautiously hopeful." according to my BIL. It's still 50-50 at best. My niece says:We all went to see mom today.  And we spoke to the doctors ( ( Read more... )

hrj, we found the method of getting a passport for travel in less than 14 days -- you should just ignore the phone prompts and wait until you talk to a real human. If you have travel papers/tickets to leave within the 14 days, they'll let you come for an in-person appointment.

I tried that -- the automated answering system hung up on me when it decided it was done. Dial tone and all. But then, I didn't have the travel paperwork in hand at that point either (and, as it happened, never did).

Yes, we had to call back several times to get a person (their estimate on the web page that 5-ish PST was a better time), and that getting hung up on is a bitch.
