I hope he doesn't have to go back, also. There needs to be some sort of limit to what someone can be asked to give for his country, and this sort of horrible wound should be enough. There was an NPR story on this problem roughly a year ago, I recall.
Alternately, if he wants to be a careerist, there ought to be some stateside job he could do, other than just mustering him out if he doesn't go back to Iraq.
Let us think all good thoughts for this guy to recover and be able to have a reasonable life. He has given quite enough in service to his country.
For what it's worth, my father died in service. When they heard the artillery shell coming, his best friend ran one way and he ran the other. His friend was wounded but survived the war.
I didn't know. Hugs. My father survived but had stories that break my heart. I want these servicepeople to come home and be well, able to live their lives.
