After several long weeks we finally got a new episode of Supernatural last night! Here's my thoughts on the episode. I focused more on Sam and Dean's actions than actual events in this episode.
I was so relieved that the other brother was dead that it took me almost half the night for the impact this would have on Sam and Dean to sink in.
Sam scared me (and not in the fun Evil!Sam way) last night with his talk to Dean. I think he may actually be further gone than John ever was. I think it scared Dean, too, and he's just waking up to how far Sam has gone. Poor boys!
I agree Whims, I think Sam is further gone than John was, but I think it's for the reasons that I mentioned above. It's like Sam and Dean are split halves of John's personality. Sam has all the obsession and mania, whereas Dean has the compassion and secret desire to have a normal life. Together they equal John, and when things are going well between Sam and Dean they balance each other out, the way John was a little more balanced, but as they drift further apart Sam becomes more obsessed.
It's fascinating how the brothers have been shifted throughout this season and the whole series really when you think about. It's just been subtle and not in your face like other shows might have handled it.
I never doubted that a 3rd brother would ever sit in the back of the Impala with Sam and Dean and the way they handled it was well done.
Oh...and Sam already died this season...in Wishful Thinking when he got struck by lightening...that counts right? So it's Dean's turn! ;-)
They really did do the third brother storyline well, which I never really doubted. I knew Kripke wouldn't give us a Dawn scenario or anything.
And thanks Zo, for pointing out that Sam has died. So that makes technically 3 Winchester deaths this season, so we really don't need any more. So all you people who keep saying there's going to be another Winchester death can just stop! Haha.
