Willie came into the cave without bothering to knock or wait to see if Mr Burgess was in or not. He was dropping off some drinks, and if Mr Burgess was in then he might stop and talk for a while. If he wasn't, Willie would leave, and if Mr Blunt was there he would leave even more quickly.

"Hello, Mr Burgess," Willie said, setting down a bottle of scotch next to him. "What are you looking at?"

"Evening." Guy said, and smiled, though it was unclear if it was to Willie's presence or the scotch he brought. He did, however, gulp down the remainder of the drink, in view of something better.

"I'm looking at old pictures. Sundsys by the sea side," he smiled again.

Willie smiled and crouched down next to him, not quite ready to sit, and ready to leave if Guy wanted him to. "That's nice. Who are they of?"

Guy showed Willie the picture. It was indeed a sea side, and by the coat stood a young man - quite obviously very fit - in a bathing suit, grinning to the camera, with his hands on his sides, as if just about to cross the Channel. "His name was Thomas. We spent that weekend by the sea, in Brighton." He smiled. "He didn't want his picture taken at first."
