I always thought this "Universalists were Poor folks" was only because the Unitarians were rich! My studies of Universalists here in the south, certainly have most as what we would now called Middle Class. Most congregations seem to have at least one doctor in the crowd...

Just preparing my Sunday service where members of my Lodge are attending and thought I would post a few lines. Almost all of the early Universalist leaders were masons, all the Ballous, Whittimore, T. Starr King, all way up to Roger Etz.
