I don't know the real answer, but in my mind there is a difference - a company's brand is about their customers' or potential customers' views or opinions about their products and services, the experience of shopping in their store or using their services, the quality of their products, etc.

Reputation goes beyond that - to their employee culture, their community involvement and charitable giving, the way they respond to issues regarding their brand...so it extends beyond their customers to the community at large and beyond.

So the way Wegman's treats me as customer via shopping experience, information shared in email blasts, product surveys, the tasting stations throughout the store - that would be part of their brand. But their corporate giving policies, their non-union work environment, that's part of their reputation. That they have an organic farm where they grow lots of the produce they sell could be considered part of their brand, but it kind of also speaks to their reputation, so I'm guessing there are areas of overlap or

Thanks, Jamie, for taking the time to break it down. You wouldn't believe all the little conversations I have in my head every day about how words work, how we use them, and how we abuse/misuse them.

Well, I probably think about this now more than before because I'm trying to grow my business and this kinda stuff comes up a lot. So much of it is fuzzy, though, so I'm guessing that significantly increases the opportunities for misuse.
