The boys

Aug 31, 2013 11:28

Several weeks ago I posted pictures of the kittens Sherry and I brought home. Both are boys, and they pretty much were blank slates, color-wise, back then. Now, not quite four months old, they weigh somewhere between 7 and 8 pounds, and they certainly look different. Zappa has dark facial features, just like Frank himself did. Zevon's colors are ( Read more... )

Did I miss them a few weeks ago? They are lovely - and so big... What beautiful creatures - those blue eyes are amazing. They are so fluffy - do you have to groom them? We had a short hair tabby growing up - I have no experience with their long haired cousins.

I posted their baby pictures a few weeks ago. The breeder took those, and the boys were pretty much blank slates.

Males for this breed (rag doll) can reach 30 pounds. They're gaining a pound every two weeks-and it takes this breed about three years to mature.

They need brushing, but not nearly as much as our Birmans did. And they don't shed nearly as badly as the Birmans.

I remember the baby pictures - I was afraid I had missed some other pictures. :)

30 pounds - that is a cat that means business.

We've read where the rag doll should be strictly an indoor cat because they are so non-aggressive and trusting. If a mean dog were to run at them, they wouldn't run away, or if they were in the road, they wouldn't move when a car came. All that is fine: We have a fenced-in back yard, and we only let them out when we can watch them, but so far all they seem to be interested in is crickets. So while they may get to be lunkers, there won't be a mean bone in their bodies. Which is a good thing for our three shih-tzus, our toy poodle and our chihuahua.

Love the photos -- thank you for posting them. But the frog clearly isn't empty this year -- it's full of cat. :-)

They are such handsome fellas! I have always wanted a blue eyed cat. And an orange tiger cat. And an all-grey tiger cat. And... and... and. I won't live long enough to have all the kinds of cats I want, unless I become one of those crazy cat ladies. It could happen!

Oh, such handsome fellows, they are! Great photos. The one where they're in the perennial bed is hard for me to figure out - it's messing with my depth perception or something. It looks as though it could be one cat and a reflection in water. (except it's not)

Sherry took it from the deck, looking down at them. I wouldn't have used that shot except for Zappa's searchlight eyes shining up from all of the greener.

They're so cute! Their names are perfect, too.

Thanks! Sherry named Zevon first, and her choice surprised me, to say the least, because she named one of our shih-tzus Lola and named our chihuahua Olivia Joy. But once she picked Zevon, I knew I wanted a "Z" sound in the second cat's name, so Zappa was a quick and easy choice.

I would have bet money you named them both. Good thing I didn't! Not sure who I would have made that bet with... Whatever.
