Something a great writer told me ...

... and I'm passing it along to you. It's about how writers must commit themselves to their art:

"The stories that I write are not written lightly. They cost me a lot and I care deeply about the ideas in them." - Linda McCullough Moore, referring to her short story "Taking Care," which appears in the May edition of The Sun magazine.

Who refuels the writer when that tank has been turned out, shaken out and emptied for the reader? How does the writer return from that spot of naked emotional exposure?

She's really good about responding to emails. Try asking her.

And if you have not read her book This Road Will Take Us Closer to the Moon, then buy it-but make sure you've got plenty of time when you sit down, because you won't want to stop. I read it in about two days and then re-read it twice in a span of about three weeks.

I think this link will get you to the story I posted about:

I still have that book on my nightstand. I loved it, and have read it twice so far.

Considering how much you read, that's quite an endorsement.

Follow the link to the short story. She is shake-my-head amazing.
