I mostly lurk around here, but I need to delurk to squee about this book.
I pre-ordered, but it didn't get to me until yesterday. Luckily, I also had it on hold with my library system(for six months, seriously) and it was waiting for me on Weds. I have already read it twice.
And as soon as I was done reading the first time, I said, "When's the next one coming out?"
I have so much love for Harry Dresden and the other members of the cast. I have my favorites, like everyone, but I honestly enjoy reading every single character.
I also just got my roommate's sister hooked on the books. I had already managed to snag her brother.
I might read it a third time through, since it's Friday.
Hi! Didn't mean to be rude, leaving your comment hanging. Got lost in my inbox.
I've gotten through Ghost Story about one and a half times now. Once for the full effect, and once to revisit passages that I either loved or didn't understand on a first go-round.
Murphy breaks my heart. Every single scene she's in.
And as soon as I was done reading the first time, I said, "When's the next one coming out?"
Aaagh! Me too! Especially since Jim totally upended the series and shook it in the last two books. There are so many possibilities for how everything will fall out. We're at a place in the story where we can only make wild guesses at what to expect.
My favorite characters are Harry, Murphy, Thomas, Marcone, Michael, Sanya... You know what, this is a long list. But those are my top six.
It's totally fine. I just wanted someone to squee with about the book. Roommate didn't have time to read it because she was getting ready to go out of town, and her brother just got the book and her sister isn't caught up yet.
I have the ability to speed-read and I devoured the entire thing by the time I went to bed on Weds.
Murphy just about made me want to cry. It makes me think about that scene in Proven Guilty when Rawlins makes that comment about cast-iron and how it's brittle. I want Jim to fix her, but I don't know how he's going to do it.
He's pretty much smashed twelve books worth of world-building, which is really kind of brave but also a little frustrating.
Favorites: Murphy, Harry, Thomas, Butters, Michael, Sanya. It's one of the few book series where I am genuinely interested in pretty much all the characters, even the bad guys.
