So here's a lil something that's had me puzzled since 4.03. Exactly what rules must demons abide by? Clearly there are some; crossroads demons are bound to honor their contracts, and Azazel whines about red tape in 2.01. So how have these rules affected the Winchesters' relationships with demons - particularly Sam's

That sounds about right to me. I'm just wondering why he would need permission to do anything to Sammy, when other demons completely ruin random civilians' lives without permission all the time.
I don't know what the significance of having the infant be 6 months for this ritual.
Huh. I hadn't actually thought about how the 6 month timetable figured into this. Think maybe I'm going to go see if I can find something significant about that age...
Thank you very much for reading!

'Course, now that I'm thinking in these terms - I wonder if Ruby's "spiritual sponsorship" after Dean's death was the lead-in to another invitation.
Thanks for reading and sharing the thinky. :)

*joins in fistbumping for Sammy!* cause. Yeah. Sammy!
Unfortunately I think Dean's death and trip to hell was the straw that broke poor Sam. I think Castiel bringing Dean back was both (of course!) a relief, a wonder, and also in a way kind of adding insult to injury because Sam wasn't able to do it. He said as much, "I wish I *had* been the one who got you back" (bad paraphrase). But he couldn't, no matter what he tried.
Now I think he wants to save Dean from any threat of a return, end the war, and give them a chance at normal life, instead of the "ends sad or bloddy" finish Dean expects. This is the wedge Ruby is using to get him further down the path.
Which everyone pretty much gets by now. So I hush up. ^^

What I really like about this season's conflict is that both Sam and Dean perceive themselves as trying to save the other. Their relationship is deteriorating because each justifies his actions as being "for" the other one.
Is awesomesauce.
