Definitely! I changed tense and POV in one of my manuscripts and there were scenes I didn't want to do away with because they had a definite place in the story. So I rewrote them with my new MC. A lot changed, but the emotional core of the scene remained.
Oh, that's wonderful! So evocative and precise without being heavy-handed.
I make it a not-so-fabulous habit of recycling scenes through various POV. If it doesn't work in one POV, I try another. I have a rule--if a scene is not working after three days, it's in the wrong place or the wrong POV. It is almost ALWAYS the wrong POV.
The last couple of stories I've written have been single pov, so it's been interesting to go back to a story where I'm playing with multiple povs--and cutting a long time favorite.
Tonight, I'm swapping a chase through the woods at night scene from the pov of a man on foot to the pov of a character with a birds-eye-view.
I think you're smart to save emotional scenes and reuse them. I tend to ax things quickly before I can talk myself out of it. Luckily, I save hard copies as I go along :)
