Half-Mooning: Heaven Sent

In which all of those other characters who get in the way of the Doctor talking to himself are gone so that the Doctor can spend the entire episode talking to himself.

I must retreat to my mind palace )

Okay, so admittedly I haven't been watching this season. I planned to, but then I got busy that first Saturday and I have never bothered to catch up. I have, however, been spoiling myself with your reviews ( ... )

I had low expectations going into this so I'm not at all disappointed. I did notice that rather than having a living Clara that they would have to animate and direct they had In-the-Doctor's-Head!Clara whom he could just direct without her having to be there at all.

I will admit that I don't actually listen to any of the dialogue when the Doctor is just talking to himself and since this episode was nothing but that, I really didn't pay attention. I have no idea who, what, where, when, how or why any of the things happened in this episode and by the looks of this review I didn't need to or miss anything.

I miss the Buddy-Cop-Through-History-Time-and-Space vibe of Ten&Donna so I'm just going to go watch The Unicorn and the Wasp and retcon this series from memory.

And we're back to using numbers even though this one's supposed to be the first of a new set of regenerations so he's not the twelfth one at all and Moffat openly mocked "fan fetishism" for giving numbers to the different Doctors?

oh, thank god I'm not the only one.

To paraphrase the Doctor - This is just drama

Moffat just seems to have half-formed ideas, which he then can't be bothered finishing, so lets have the diamond wall that he chips away at for a billionty years and/or a day be exempt from the whole re-set thing, lets not explain the spare set of clothes. (I also wondered at some point if he's been reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower series and decided to give that an ending!)

If it turns out that the Doctor decides to 'punish' Ashilder/Me by putting her in charge of the Time Lords (and locking her up with them just because she's the antagonist) I'm going to be really, really p***ssed off
