Okay dear lugnie-you asked so here are my favorite movies; in no particular order

Casablanca, -Bogie, Bergman, classic love story, with drama, funny lines and As Time Goes By-could watch it a million times

Jaws-to me, Spielbergs best film-perfect combination of terror, suspense, and humanity-I think I see something new in it every time I watch it

I almost put a few of those on my list... namely Wizard of Oz (you can't go wrong with that one), also Monsoon Wedding (also directed by Mira Nair) and Hunt for Red October (that one will never get old). I love your classic taste in movies. :)
