Things are changing.

I knew they would, so I'm not surprised or disappointed or angry. I just feel like writing saying it gives it a kind of finality. Like it's actually happening instead of just being in my head.

YAY! Congratulations!

Although I've never been a manager, I don't quite agree that friendships have to dissolve or go through extreme changes when one individual becomes "boss". I became a "lead" at Petsmart, so I was doling out commands but my relationships didn't change. I'd already earned my friends' respect so they had no problem listening and following. And it even made them more comfortable to bring ideas to the table.

I think that's how things are different: you had already earned their respect. I'm coming from a completely separate group (Molecular Analysis) and segueing right in to a lead position in Central Services (my new group) after only working for two months in CS from April to mid-June. So while I'm well-tested in Molecular Analysis, a lot of the people I'll be managing haven't seen me in action in Central Services. I have a lot to prove to them ( ... )

Wow, sounds just like Petsmart. When I transferred over to Livonia I had to prove myself and deal with the jealousy, improper conduct, etc so I wish you the best of luck! It's not easy, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ;-)
