Read this all in one go and absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the different take on the story. Also really liked the pairing.

I'm glad that it worked for you. :)

Having Beth survive makes central problem a different one - the early story becomes less about desperately trying to figure out what's going on and more about trying to get her to work through her trauma enough to be functional and actually accept some help.

And, of course, at this point things are going to heavily diverge from canon. In my imagination, it becomes a game of spy vs spy tag with the local Neolutionists, whilst things with Helena have the potential to go much better or much worse. And they'll have lost Paul as a potential asset, possibly even gaining him as an enemy, which is going to hurt in the muscle stakes.
