This was great. It was sweet with just the right bit of angst for the topic and the moment it occurs. And also probably more realistic to what Shepard would be thinking or feeling than what goes through my head when I play these lovely moments between the two. I simply can't make myself think of anything else happening but their happy ending, so thankfully their are lots of great fics like this that do. I just feel awful when I think of it turning out any other way because I feel horrible for leaving Liara alone again even if she does seem to have come to terms with the possibility herself by the time you talk to her in London.

I have to say that despite the obvious fanservice in it, I loved the Citadel DLC. All these great new moments with these two. I couldn't help but lol when Liara became distracted by what Shepard was wearing when she first showed up. And who could forget drunk!Liara and hungover!Liara. I loved when Liara actually said she is a quarter Krogan.

I was actually quite surprised the first time I played through the game and got to the end where Liara gives Shepard her gift. The amount of maturing she had gone through in the last game was pretty astounding. The Liara you see throughout most of ME3 is so different from even what you see of her in the LotSB. I think she has a realization of her mortality; everyone's mortality really. That idea is really what I was pulling from when I wrote this piece, even though it isn't from Liara's POV. It's part of what helps her realize the war may be the end of everything. But, I do have a happily-ever-after version in my brain because it's so much nicer to think of than it all ending terribly.

And, I totally loved the DLC for the same reason. Bioware gave us a moment with the characters: a final goodbye. I still need to play through all the scenarios from the party, but I have enjoyed what I have seen so far.

I agree, from the moment she talked about being only 109, to creating the VI time capsule to the gift scene they made it pretty obvious that Liara has matured enough to see not only her mortality but Shepard's as well. It's a drastic change from her wanting Shepard to promise to always come back. I can't make myself see anything other than the two of them getting their happy ending. If any two characters in the trilogy deserve it, it's Liara and Shepard. I blame Bioware because they brought up the marriage, old age and lots of blue children.

The DLC was the perfect goodbye to the characters we love, though I won't be saying goodbye to them anytime soon since I keep replaying the trilogy. The Liara moments though were perfect IMO.
