Title: Not What It Seems
Fandom: Charmed/Grey's Anatomy
Rating: Pg13 (to be safe)
Spoilers: As long as you've seen all of Charmed and Grey's up to now.
Pairing: Piper (she was always my fave)/Surprise!
A/N: So I tend to write crossover pairings that no one probably ever thought about. My brain makes strange connections that way. I wrote this many moons ago. I played with timelines a little bit but nothing to drastic. Its short but sweet.
Piper Halliwell was doing what she often did when she was tending to the bar; people watching. She didn’t really need to be here but her sisters were driving her crazy constantly trying to set her up on dates or pestering her about going on dates. It had only been a year since she’d been divorced from what she thought was the one. She wasn’t just going to be okay and be able to bounce back from that.
As she watched people dance, Piper’s eyes settled upon a figure dancing with an abandon that she herself hadn’t felt in a long time. She wasn’t sure why her eyes settled upon this person, this woman but she found that she couldn’t look away. In a split second the woman looked over at Piper and their eyes met the witch could have sworn she felt a jolt of something shoot through her body.
“Piper.”
Piper was mesmerized by the blue-green eyes that stared at her from across the room and at first didn’t hear her name being called.
“Piper!”
Breaking the spell Piper turned her head to see her sister’s standing in front of her.
“What?”
“Where were you just now,” Phoebe asked with a knowing smirk
“Nowhere,” Piper all but growled, “Did you need something?”
Phoebe and Paige looked to one another and then to their sister.
“We wanted to know what time you would be home,” Phoebe started
“Well I have to close P3 so probably not till three or four. Why?”
“We have dates,” Paige exclaimed bouncing on her toes
“And what does that have to do with what time I get home,” Piper asked trying to find her mystery stranger while still paying attention to her sisters
“We didn’t want you to be surprised if one of us happens to come home with our date and…”
Piper held up a hand, “I got it thanks.”
“So you’ll be okay here by yourself?”
“Yes,” Piper spoke looking to her sisters, “As always I’ll be fine here by myself.”
She could tell her sisters were trying to decide if that statement had been an insult or not.
“You two should go. Don’t want to miss those dates.”
Piper could see said dates hovering at the edge of the stairs waiting for her sisters. Giving her a kiss on the cheek the younger Halliwell’s made their leave. Her attention once again on the dance floor Piper was disappointed that she didn’t find her mystery person.
“Looking for someone?”
This came to Piper’s right and she turned to see said someone standing in front of her.
“I’m not now,” Piper answered surprising herself at her boldness
This woman smiled bemusedly at Piper and she found herself enjoying it, “I’m Addison,” the woman says holding out a slim hand
“Piper.”
Addison smiled, “One of the P’s in P3?”
“Yes,” Piper says reluctantly letting go of this woman’s hand
“You’ve been watching me,” Addison speaks in a way that somehow makes Piper think the action was welcomed
“And you me.”
Addison smiled chuckling softly, “So we’ve been staring at each other all night. What are we going to do about that?”
Piper took in a small breath, “I didn’t think that I was ready to start dating again.”
Addison sat herself down on a stool, “Just get out of a relationship?”
“I’ve been divorced for about a year and I find it hard to move on from that.”
“I can understand that. I’m newly divorced myself.”
“How long were you married for?”
“Twelve years. You?”
“Five. You’ve been divorced for a few months or more than a year like me,” Piper asks coming closer
“Just about a year,” Addison says, “Mine probably was more bitter a divorce than yours I would bet.”
“Why do you say that?”
“My husband…ex husband snarled at me all through the divorce proceedings.”
Piper smiled, “No, mine was very amicable. We do have two sons to look after together so it couldn’t be too bitter. What happened for it to be so bitter?”
Addison smiled brightly, “I slept with my husband’s best friend.”
Piper returned the smile, “That would certainly do it.”
“Have you ever been with a woman before Piper,” Addison asked tracing a patter of the top of Piper’s hand
“It’s gone no further than a few stolen kisses. How about you?”
“I’ve forayed into a relationship or two with another woman. I have to say that I’ve never fallen for someone as quick as I have for you.”
Piper’s heart fluttered at the honest words spoken to her, “When I saw you dancing by yourself across the room and our eyes met I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time.”
“What’s that,” Addison asked twining their fingers together
“Longing.”
“Longing,” Addison repeated in that damned low voice of hers, “Yes, that’s a good description of what it was. When do you get out of here?”
“I don’t even need to be here at all,” Piper smiles, “I had to get out of the house as my sisters were driving me mad.”
“You live with your sisters?”
It was said not any way insulting and Piper was more smitten, “That’s kind of a long story. Do you live here Addison?”
“Yes, I moved here about a month ago after I found a job at the Childrens Hospital.”
“You’re a Doctor?”
Addison nods, “I would love to tell you my life story, and hear yours, somewhere perhaps a little bit quieter.”
Piper was already flagging down her manager whilst grabbing her bag, “I need for you to close up,” she spoke to her manager Greta
“I was going to anyway dear heart,” the woman spoke with a smirk, “See you tomorrow.”
Piper rolled her eyes and stepped from behind the bar to see Addison waiting for her at the foot of the stairs. Standing next to her she realized that the redhead was taller than she thought she was and rather quite liked it.
Together they walked up the steps and out into the clear night.

“Did you hear Piper come in,” Paige asked the next morning while standing over the coffee pot
“No, I checked in her room before I came down and it looks like she never even came home.”
“Should we be worried?”
As soon as this question was out they both heard the front door open and close. Piper practically bounced into the kitchen after a moment.
“Why are you so happy so early in the morning,” Phoebe asked suspiciously
“And where were you that you didn’t come home?”
“Well since Leo has the boys ‘up there’ and you two had dates I didn’t know that I had to be home at any given time.”
“That didn’t answer any of our questions,” Paige points out
Piper rolls her eyes, “I met someone and we spent all night talking…among other things. Happy now?”
The younger Halliwell’s looked at one another with knowing smiles.
“Was this guy a hot looking someone,” Paige asked with a smile
Piper knew how to shock her sister’s and smiling brightly herself she turned and headed for the stairs, “I thought that she was pretty hot yeah.”
She only wished she’d gotten to see the look on their faces.
