Shannon's P.O.V.
We had been searching for a group of teenagers trafficking drugs to Asia. One kid had already died when the heroin balloons he swallowed burst in his stomach. Caleb, a kid Lawson was looking after in this local mentor program, got involved. Caleb's sister too.
We got the tip off from Caleb that the kids were catching flights to Asia today from Melbourne Airport. It wasn't hard to find him, in line of the international check in desks.
Stella, Michael, Josh and I had disappeared to lost property and quickly changed out of our TR uniforms. Michael was stoked about finding a vintage suit. Josh and I got stuck with janitorial suits, Stella in a slightly bohemian looking dress.
It didn't take much to put me in a blissful shock at her beauty.
Nearly an hour into our unauthorised undercover gig, news came over the coms from Leon that Stella had been attacked in the third level of the parking lot a few minutes after she chased down one of the traffickers. My heart jolted briefly.
It ended not too far from where she was attacked. Caleb and his sister had been arrested, and the guys from the commodore. I wrapped a blanket over her shoulders and helped her into TR 1. Michael was smiling like he had just gotten his first kiss when he slid his douche bag sunglasses onto her face.
I handed her the ice pack and walked away. I struggled not to roll my eyes at his antics. So childish.
We were finally back at base, Josh and Stella throwing playful insults as the prepared to leave.
I walked out to the garage Stella. I asked if she had anyone to stay with her, in case she had a concussion.
A horn blared from the parking lot as it pulled in, to announce their arrival for Stella.
I was still new, she doesn't know me very well I told myself. That didn't stop me from being hopeful.
She said that she did, and thanks for asking, that she was okay.
She has no idea how much I wish she said yes...
