Ruth is a lady. And a lady always knows when to leave. So she was just acting as herself when she left Frank Bennett. I love that lady.
I hate dresses, but I love poker and honey. I despise church, but I love faith. I always felt different. Out of place. Buddy understood me. And he had to die. He knew that I'd rather have a wife than a husband. He would never think I would end up in hell like those hypocrites in church. So I keep everything quiet, though I think some people just know. After all, I ain't married. I live with Ruth. I help raise her baby. Just like a husband would. Her rat bastard husband never could take care of her as good as I can.
I can't lie when I say that the happiest moment in my life is when Ruth came to live with me. She had a beautiful son, and we named him Buddy...after my dead brother. She is so beautiful, kind, and caring. And there she is, sitting on the stand, testifying on my behalf. And that's when she says it. She loves me. And to any other person sitting in this courtroom it means nothing. But to me it means the world.
