Rating: PG for this part
Pairing: Olivia & Natalia from Guiding Light
Summary: Otalia celebrates a year's worth of laughter, love, and memories.
Spoilers: None as of 8/11
A/N: I was watching the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes from last year. It made me sad to know that we won't get to see them this year with a together and knowingly in-love Otalia. Assumes that Natalia is pregnant and Frank is more like an uncle to the kid.
A/N2: Sorry about the lateness with updating. I've been having a terrible case of writer's block with this story.
You measure with...flowers.
Natalia awoke to soft sunlight and gentle giggling. She sat up in bed against her pillows. The sight before her warmed her heart and filled her soul with joy. Emma held little Nicky on her lap on her and Olivia's bed. Next to them, sat Olivia holding a small tray filled with breakfast. Beside the kids, there were two small homemade cards. And, finally on the nightstand there were the most beautiful vase of flowers that Natalia had ever seen.
Natalia smiled and asked, "What's all this?"
Olivia smiled as Emma responded. "Mama, it's Mother's Day silly! We wanted to show you how much we love you!"
Nicky clapped when Emma finished.
"Oh, I love you, too, Em." Natalia scrunched her face in joy and poked Emma on the nose. "I love you, and your brothers, and Ava, and your Mommy a whole lot. So...the flowers?" Natalia asked.
Olivia chuckled, "From Ava. She didn't want Emma to, and I quote, 'upstage her on the My Two Mommies appreciation.' "
Natalia laughed. "Well, Rafe called last night and said that our gift will be in the mail." Just then the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" Emma yelled as she bounded down the stairs. Two minutes later, the little girl came bouncing through the door. "Special 'livery!" She put the small manila envelope down on the bed.
Olivia ripped it open. Inside, there was a small card that read:
Dear Olivia and Ma,
I couldn't figure out what do get for you. You both have done so much for me. I figured that you both could use a break and take some time for yourselves. I hope you have a great Mother's Day!
Love, Rafe
In addition to the card, there were two gift certificates to a weekend away at the spa that they had visited a year prior. "Aww...Rafe," Natalia choked back. "He's such a good son."
"He is." Olivia grinned. "Sooo..." Olivia spoke. "Are you hungry?"
Natalia nodded. Olivia placed the tray of food across Natalia's lap. Natalia looked down at the food in awe. There were scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, whole wheat toast with raspberry preserves, cranberry juice, an assortment of fresh cut fruit including kiwi which were Natalia's favorite, and a steaming hot cup of coffee with cinnamon in it. "This looks amazing, honey."
Olivia beamed proudly. "Just wait until you taste it."
Natalia took a big bite of the eggs and let out a small moan of delight. "Oh my goodness, is that saffron in the eggs?"
"Yep."
"Oh this is delicious." Natalia practically inhaled the food on her plate because it was so good.
When she was finished, Olivia cleared the tray to the kitchen. Meanwhile, Emma showed Natalia the cards her and Nicky had made for her and Olivia. "And, these are the ducks by the pond," she pointed to a yellow blob with a triangle bill and sticks for legs. "...and we're feeding them bread." Emma looked up at her other mommy, her eyes big and wide with love.
Natalia softly spoke, "Oh sweetie, you and Nicky did such a beautiful job on the cards. Thank you so much." She pulled the two of them into a hug. Her eyes closed, soaking in the moment and the joy. They stayed there for awhile until Emma broke the silence.
"Come here, Mommy! We need your hugs, too!" She ran over to the doorway, where Olivia had been standing against watching them, and took her hand and pulled her to their bed.
Natalia could see the tears in her lover's beautiful green eyes, and knew instantly that she was bursting with pride, joy, and love with her family as well. Once Olivia got onto the bed, Natalia immediately grabbed her into her arms and held her tight.
She whispered into her ear, "I love you so much, baby. Thank you."
Natalia could feel her smile against her face as Olivia replied, "No, thank you so much. I love you." Olivia then pulled back and gave Natalia a sweet and tender kiss.
"Ewww..." Emma squeaked. "Gross..."
"What is it 'Bean?" Olivia was suddenly nervous about how Emma felt about her two mommies being together even though they had been together for quite a while now.
"Nicky's all stinky." She made a disgusted face as she pointed to his diaper.
Natalia and Olivia laughed. Olivia brought Nicky closer to her and took a sniff of the little boy. "Oh, yeah. He needs to be changed right now."
Natalia reached out to take him, but Olivia insisted, "Nope. I got him, Mom. You just enjoy your day off."
"Oh I will, then, Mommy."
"Good, 'cause you have the first one tomorrow." Olivia winked.
Emma giggled watching Olivia and Natalia banter. It was great having two mommies, because it made everything twice as fun and made her laugh twice as hard. They were so silly sometimes. But, she wouldn't have it any other way.
