"The five worst dates Olivia and Natalia ever had."

Pairing - Olivia/Natalia

1.

Natalia Rivera has not been on a lot of dates, that is to be sure.
Nicky would take her out for pizza and they would kiss all night - but that was when she was sixteen. And Frank would try real hard to give her the perfect night out, but her heart wasn't in it. At all.

And when she finally dealt with her fear and when they both finally said the words... Natalia was certain that her first date with Olivia Spencer would be, in a word, amazing.

Well, it's amazing all right... really freakin' amazing..., Natalia dead-pans within her own head as not one, not two, not three, but every single man Olivia ever married or slept with or dated or all the above wanders into the restaurant.

Phillip and his questions about Emma. Buzz and his joking. Frank and his seething... and boy is that a double whammy... Bill and his sly glances. And Josh Lewis.

And as if it is the most natural thing in the world, Olivia's eyes light up and these former flames are chatting and Natalia Rivera is starting to think that those dates back in her youth, with greasy fingers and teenage teasing, were far better.

2.

When they got there, it was decidedly not crowded.
And Olivia got this sinking feeling in her gut, the kind that tells her that she really must start checking the calendar more closely.
Like for birthdays. Like for future anniversaries. Like for tonight, dammit.

"The doors are locked."
"I was afraid of that."
"What do you mean?"
"Umm, I think... look, Natalia, I think I got the wrong date."
"The wrong date?"
"Yes."
"For this concert?"
"Yes."
"And so... we are in New York, dressed up for a concert that isn't happening?"
"That's about right."

Olivia sighs heavily, even when Natalia kisses her cheek and tells her that everything 'is okay'. Because, for Olivia Spencer, everything is not okay.
This was a celebration of love. Instead, it is a celebration of freezing their asses off in the city at night.
Even when Natalia wraps an arm around her and gets them to walking back to their hotel, Olivia Spencer wonders if she'll ever get this love-thing down pat.

3.

Those women see it, even when Olivia and Natalia deny it. Everyone can see it, plain as day or plain as the little smudge of ice-cream on Natalia's nose and plain as the way Olivia just stops herself from wiping it off.

They can call it a 'family day'. They can call it 'friends'.
But those women see it, even when Olivia and Natalia deny it.
Because it's a lot like a date.

And Olivia forgets for a moment that it isn't one, forgets that this is only halfway her family, forgets that Natalia will soon leave to be with Frank.
Olivia almost forgets that this isn't a date with the love of her life.

And Natalia forgets for a moment that it isn't one, forgets that this is just a figment of her imagination, forgets that Olivia wouldn't want her anyway.
Natalia almost forgets that this isn't a date with the love of her life.

4.

He is nice and kind and generous and all those things she is supposed to love.
And food is just what she likes, right down to the onions on her burger.
The candles are making the room hazy, casting a soft light over everything in this kitchen.

And in that amber glow, Natalia swears she sees someone else looking back at her.
It isn't Frank, no matter how hard he is trying.

She knows this should be a good date, the first of many perhaps, but all Natalia can keep thinking is that someone other than this man should be sitting opposite.

Someone with green eyes and a warm grin and a devious laugh... someone a lot like... a lot like...

5.

They both love Emma so much. That girl changed Olivia's life completely. That girl brought so much joy to Natalia's life. And on any other night, they would love to have her there - laughing and smiling and jumping around.

But when Jane is sick and Phillip is out of town and Buzz is with Lillian...

"Guess we can't just let her wander off... right?" Olivia murmurs during this two-second break from her daughter. Natalia lightly shoves Olivia's shoulder.
"We'll have other nights."
"Yea, I know."
"But I understand how you feel. I was planning something pretty great for us."
"Really?"
"Yep, really..."
"...Like what?"

Right as Emma bounces into the living room, Natalia whispers in Olivia's ear.

And the rest of the evening, long after Olivia is back at The Beacon, Emma keeps on asking why her mother looks so sad.
Olivia reaches over and ruffles the little girl's hair.

"I'll tell you when you are older."

Hope you like them. :)
