Notes - This is a way of dealing. 'Coz I gotta let it out. Otalia...

It should be familiar, but it comes as a shock. Like ice-water on the face. Like a kiss on the lips when you expect the cheek. Like falling in love with the wrong person at the wrong time in the wrong damn world.

Olivia stays there, present and accounted for. But she is far away, she is running fast, as fast as her feet can carry her broken body along.
She stays and listens. She stays and watches. She hears her daughter suggest the most dreaded event in Olivia's life and she hears Natalia haltingly agree to the whole thing.
Olivia stays there... until she can't see anything beyond the group hug she no longer can find a place in.
And she runs, as fast as her feet can carry her.

When Doris talks, Olivia listens. What funny bedfellows a secret makes - that is what Olivia thinks as she takes another sip of another drink.
Doris says things, the kind of stuff that haunts Olivia's dreams and spooks Olivia as she walks around the farmhouse. They are the kind of things that Olivia wants to shout from a rooftop.
Perhaps with rain. And thunder. And when I come back down, she'll be there. Waiting. Ready.
It is all so dramatic and fanciful, so stupidly romantic. Olivia wants to believe it is the alcohol.
But when Doris talks... Olivia listens.
And as the dollars fall to the bar, Olivia is running.
As fast as her feet can carry her.

It should be familiar, but it comes as a shock.

And the words, those declarations brought about by drinking and longing, just die on Olivia's lips. Those words die a slow and final death as Natalia pulls her along, shows her the evidence of how right Frank is and how wrong any other option is.

It should be familiar, this letdown...

Olivia stays there, crying and smiling. But she is far away, falling fast and falling hard, falling apart without making a single sound.
