Reflections

fingers trace bloodstains
like tears flowing over flesh
seeking truth
the power to heal

a touch so delicate
barely a promise whispered
held tightly
bound within our souls

our bravery brings us here
time and time again
yet cowardice
leaves love unspoken

pain you can take
distracts from that which we cannot
battle scars polished
our collection of sacrifice

there is no question
where solace lies
when bruises form
and hearts ache

here within we find ourselves
lost in glances
blocked from view
undenied by silent promises

fingers flutter over swollen lips
like waves stroking a shoreline
embracing the power
healing with blind devotion
