"Into The Sunset" - A Tribute To Lindsay Boxer & Cindy Thomas

Remember that when one door closes, another always opens? With the start of 'Rizzoli & Isles', I thought it was time to honor one of the most beautiful OTPs ever. Which I'm saying trying to be objective, because IMO it doesn't get better than that.

It all started in 2001 with a new book series by James Patterson, who, armed with the experience of having grown up around women, came up with a unique concept, the Women's Murder Club. Their unconditional friendship was a breath of fresh air in the genre, but there was something deliciously more. One of the earliest clues for later Lindsay/Cindy shipping:

(Lindsay's thoughts in the car with Cindy. At that point, they had just met for the second time).

"But as we drew close to the Golden Gate, I had a premonition I was riding with someone I was meant to be with, and definitely someone I liked to be with." (1st To Die)

You want proof? I intend to give it.

In her essay "The Yardstick: Why Lindsay and Cindy are the Ultimate Measure for Femslash Coupledom, Riley LaShea writes "They wear their mutual admiration like sexy lingerie."

Take A Look:

A Collection of Vids:

readthesubtext has done several L/C vids; these are some of my favorites:

Hungry Eyes. This song was basically written for the two of them. Cindy so wants to learn the Mambo, and she couldn't have been any cuter if she'd said, "I carried a watermelon." Any kind of dirty dancing would be easy to imagine.

The Weakness In Me. And then there was L/C visible even in the unaired!

Waiting For The Real Thing. Because Lindsay and Cindy, they are. Toobeautifullytragic proves it.

This Is My Now by grumpybear1031. Like books, like TV. Lindsay had a lot to deal with, but when she met Cindy Thomas, it made all the difference.

A couple of vids I made:Too Lost In You and Angels Would Fall, because every OTP should have their longing for each other matched to these songs :).

Lindsay and Cindy stand the test even among the canon couples: Dreaming of U.

And because we want to look at them over and over again:

Lindsay and Cindy are canon!

Well, networks and especially ABC wasn't that kind, but cancellation left a sad and angry fandom, and thus the Virtual Season was born.

Fandom: We Know Drama Best

Inamorata by Riley LaShea. Rivals every mystery I've ever loved, including the original Women's Murder Club.

She's Not The One With A Getaway Box by thrace_
This one makes me sad every time I read it. Somebody's got to bash Lindsay over the head and make her understand, because even when it's complicated, they so clearly belong together.

Which is another sad one, but really, Lindsay makes it more complicated than it needs to be!

I couldn't resist. It's funny, it's cute, and it shows me that no one is immune to the power of OTP
:)

The Joys Of Motherhood series by storm_8

Lindsay & Cindy with kids! And it's a whole universe.

This is just a tiny sample of the goodness that's out there. Enjoy!

Canon comes with a 'mild bondage' warning ;)

As Women's Murder Club, the book series, continues, Lindsay continues to state just how pretty Cindy is. It's lovely. In the 9th Judgment, Cindy watches Lindsay go into a dangerous undercover assignment with obvious worry. Lindsay's thoughts: "I was suffused with love for her. I wanted to hug her (...)." As an additional bonus, this book has a redhead/brunette canonical lesbian couple. Lots of reason to read on even if we never forgive him for what he did to Jill! ;)

If that's still not enough, you could also just watch the entire episode 1x9 'To Drag And To Hold', where we learn that Lindsay hates bliss, but there's nothing she loves more than spending the day with Cindy on a case, some 'one-on-one bonding time' as suggested by Jill. Which proves Riley's point about the things they have in common.

And don't you just want to go there now?
