Forever, Now (MCR Kid!Fic)

I had SO MUCH FUN writing this story, and I can’t say this enough: THANK YOU. Last time I wrote anything fannish was four years ago (and a drabble) and I am overwhelmed and giggly and totally stupid over all the nice things people have said about this story. You have no idea how many times I’ve read and re-read your comments (Sometimes out loud! To myself! Like a crazy person!) or how completely you’ve all made my day week month year. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
A couple of specific thanks:
Here’s how this story happened. A few weeks ago someone on my flist said “Why isn’t there an AU based around this picture where they’re clearly street urchins?” (It might have been in mcee’s journal, but I really can’t remember anymore.) I thought “Yeah, why isn’t there?” and this entire thing appeared in my head. “Ha ha,” I said to myself, “that’s ridiculous. No one would read kid fic! It’s a good thing I am not a person who writes down my crazy ideas!”
A couple of weeks later arsenicjade wrote a very thoughtful post in her journal about the lack of h/c in bandom, and since I had just gotten done reading Home Is A Name for probably the tenth time, I replied something like “Yeah, it’s so bad I planned out an epic Gerard-and-Mikey-as-homeless-kids-adopted-by-Brian story in my head.”
And then she (and magdalyna) said the weirdest thing: Write that! I would totally read it!
This story would never have gotten started - or continued - without arsenicjade's very kind hand-holding and encouragement. ‘Thank you’ seems kind of insufficient, but: thank you! (And just in case you haven’t read Home Is A Name, go read it right now.)
The other big thank you goes to my younger sister and roommate queenitsy, who is totally the super-cool Mikey to my mildly-unbalanced-and-obsessive Gerard. When I freaked out and decided the last section was unpostably bad, she looked it over for me and reassured me that it was fine, and I was just crazy. (Y’all would never have gotten part 11 without her.)
She is not a bandom person AT ALL but she has put up with months of lectures conversations on topics such as “Gerard Is So Pretty, Look At His Stupid Face,” “They Keep Setting Bob On Fire,” “Frank Is Tiny And Awesome And He Loves Gerard,” “This Is Ray, He Loves Gerard Too,” “MikeyWay’s Hair: WTF?” and “3,421 Reasons Why I Love Them Starting With All The Hugging.” Every time I start bouncing and say “LOOK YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE/READ/HEAR THIS!” she very patiently rolls her eyes and suffers through it without ever punching me. She did an unofficial beta on many of these chapters and talked out the plot and pacing with me, and she is the best sister ever.
