Ok, first off, you don't actually kick the ball with your toes, you use the side of the foot just where your arch is.

Just kick the ball at it for a while. That way you can experiment with out hurting anything. Soccer's best taught by doing.

( ( And he mumbles something that sounds vaguely like, "and he'll stay away from my sister when I do!" before giving the ball a hard kick that bounces off the bench and back. ) )
