Mmm, every time you post an update to this I want to beat up marauders... all of them.
Damn.
Keep going.

Severus's opinion of MWPP is not improving, either *g*. Thanks for the encouragement; the next chapter is in the works.

Nicely done, and, I think, a reasonable extrapolation from what we see of the dynamics in OotP. It's a rare treat to find a fic author working from Snape's PoV who addresses his own culpability in the whole situation (even if he can't see it) and doesn't let either side off easily.

Thank you for your insightful review.

...working from Snape's PoV who addresses his own culpability in the whole situation (even if he can't see it) and doesn't let either side off easily.

Exactly what I was trying to do. I am so glad it came across in this chapter.

I like parallels between this and Snape's Worst Memory chapter in OotP. It's nice that you gave Pettigrew so much "screen time". He's so often neglected in MWPP stories.

And the mention in the beginning that chocolate makes Snape feel good! I wonder if that's also because chocolate is good against the effects of Dark magic with which he's experimenting...

Peter was MPP's friend, and I don't think it was just because he was James's sycophant.

It's very clear that Severus needs chocolate. Badly. (*g*)

I'm finally catching up!

I loved that moment when Pomfrey asks where Snape learned the curse. I could picture him looking into her eyes and telling her that he'd invented it. And then, when he says he invented the countercurse, as well ... What a lovely metaphor for Snape's ability to be both destructive and constructive.

I also liked the way you handled the Marauders. Reading from Snape's point of view, I certainly didn't like them ... but I could also see their friendship with each other and Lupin's struggle with being both decent to Snape and loyal to his friends.

Oh, and Ruskin! Gave me chills considering what you have in store for him in A&A.

Great work, as usual!
