Hodge podge

Nathaniel finally has a bed of his own and now will actually sleep through the night.  We were having a lot of trouble with that but he's very excited about his big boy bed.  I cannot express adequately how much better I feel for his having his own bed.  We were so lazy about getting things like that for him.  It was just sad.  My running joke is ( Read more... )

Busy girl! I think it took me at least a year to get used to being a SAHM. There are still days where I just want to pull my hair out and run away, but I promise, those days are fewer and fewer.

Your house must be a lot like mine; we do song parodies all the time and are always laughing at some of the creative things Kira comes up with! I think it must be a great brain exercise for them.

Let me know if you ever want to get together for a play date!

Well shucks. I could have sworn I replied to this. Now I'm confused. I even told Rich about replying to it. Hrmmm. I just checked and didn't reply to the email that came from Live Journal. So what in the world did I do? Argh ( ... )

Rich finally got the call. The gentleman explained the position better and Rich is still really interested but is afraid he's not immediately qualified. But could figure it out soon enough. They have a face-to-face on Wednesday. Please keep us in your thoughts/prayers/et al.

I'll keep Rich in mind tomorrow. I'm glad the guy called and took away some of the suspense. Best of luck!

Here are the lyrics to my favorite song. Matt made it up (we couldn't sing it when Caleb was old enough to understand, for obvious reasons.) It is to the tune of the Dreidel Song:
Caleb, Caleb, Caleb
I made him out of sperm
And when you change his diaper
He really likes to squirm.

People get jobs for which they aren't qualified all the time. If Rich thinks he can learn how to do the job, he should take it, especially if it's an advancement!

Also, if you want to learn to quilt, my mother would LOVE to have a protege. She quilts with the Haysville ladies at the library.

That's pretty well what I told him. But he feels funny about it mostly from the angle of "I want X amount of money but don't have the immediate skills". The thing is he's really smart and though he may be rusty, he doesn't shrink from a challenge. He knows that once he's in there won't be a problem because he can figure anything out. From my perspective, his work ethic is phenomenal, but I think he may have a problem with interviewing though. (As in, doesn't interview well.) I'm not sure how to coach him through that. I think his problem with interviewing comes from having been a "paper boy" for so long. While we lived an exceedingly good life while he worked the paper angle, it was embarrassing for him to meet people and get into the whole "so what do you do?" conversation. Happy with the goods we were able to acquire and the lifestyle we were afforded, but ashamed of how we were able to afford it I guess. Not many men want to be a paper boy for 16 years particularly when they have a double bachelor in computer science and ( ... )

I've made several quilts, but I still wouldn't say I "quilt." There is actually a major difference between tying a quilt (sewing together squares of fabric and tying the front, middle and backing together with yarn) and quilting a pieced quilt. I don't think I will ever have the patience to piece and hand-quilt an intricate, "work of art" quilt. At Easter my granny told me she won't hand-quilt any more. She's still comfortable doing fancy embroidery and some simple pieced quilts, but if she can't tie it, she'll have someone else do the hand-quilting.
