He's a nice guy and I will vote for him and everything, but it is just false to say that he supports equal civil rights for GLBT folks. He is against even the GLBT friendly state laws which already exist as far as gay marriage (MA & CA). He doesn't think same sex couples should be allowed to be married (unless he announced something in the last 48 hours or so). So pray tell, how is that supporting equal rights?

Sorry - "separate but equal" doesn't work in marriage, either.

While all that might be true...the fact that Obama even *knows* what a transperson is is a big step. I'm sure if you asked McCain about transgender rights he'd say "Trans-what rights?" I think we have to make small steps...and this is a small one, but a necessary one.
