1. What types of perches do you provide for your parrot? (e.g. Natural branch, rope, cement/"nail trimmer", dowel...)

Colored cotton rope and natural wood mostly, I rotate in one cement, and in winter Kappa gets a Thermo perch.

2. Which type of perch does your parrot like to spend the most time on?

The cage bars. I'm serious, and she's crazy. Sometimes I peak in under her cover after I've put her to bed, and she'll be in the upper left corner of the cage, clinging to the bars, clucking sleepily that I'm disturbing her.

3. Do you rearrange your bird's perches? If so, how often?

Every 1-2 weeks. Kappa gets really pissy if I do it less often than every other week.

4. How do you clean your perches?

Rope perches I trim any excess threads, scrub with a nail brush, and then put through my dishwasher on the top rack. All other perches I use soap and water. I only use plant-based soaps, such as the brands Seventh Generation and Ecover.

5. Have you ever made your own perches? If so, what material(s) did you use, and how did ( ... )

Natural woods, cotton rope, sisal rope, each cage gets one cement rotated in every 2 weeks, one dowel also rotated in every 2 weeks.

Probably rope. I would too, they seem comfy.

Yes, once a week.

Hot water, vinegar, and a sponge. In the summer, usually just a hose on jet setting.

Haven't, but have been interested.

We have a pedi perch, a natural wood perch, a plastic dowel type, a rope perch, a twisty natural wood perch, and various swingy things.

They seem to really love the pedi perch.

We don't rearrange them, because we tried it before, and the parrotlets didn't like it. We were told in no uncertain birdy voiced terms that it was their house, they liked it the way it was! :P

Water, scrubby, sometimes a short soak in mild soapy water for tough poops. A good rinse follows.

I'm not creative enough to make our own, but I like the idea of gathering natural, local wood. I'd have to know what was safe, though, and how to oven dry the oils out of it.
