I know I don't have to explain to folks how destructive birds can be...whenever Muffin finds a hidey hole, I put lots of stuff in there like boxes and paper so he doesn't chew on the walls.

Yeah... Max, my Grey, has "redecorated" a few of our baseboards. When he gets the urge to redecorate (it happens in spurts, it seems), I cover "his" baseboards with cardboard, which gets changed as he chews it up. Quelle attractive.... Fortunately, he loves cardboard (but only corrugated. He has very discerning tastes.) so I've rerouted his chewing from the floor to the top of his cage: I put boxes on top and he can spend hours in there chewing, playing with his toys, and plotting worldwide avian rebellion.
