Bathing in water fountains

When we had a budgie that loved playing in water and would dive-bomb unattended drinks to try to dunk himself, we got him a filtered drinking fountain like what you're talking about. He loved it. The problem that we ran into, though, was that the level of the water was deep for most birds, and the sides and bottom were slippery. We had to put cups into the basin for our budgie to perch on, which was less than ideal. Also, a happy bird with a pool of water can make an enormous mess!

I just reread this post and suddenly thought of something. What about a reptile fountain, like these from Exo-Terra?: http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/waterfall.php They've got the moving water, but also are a natural type of stone material, so the birds shouldn't slip on it. I'm not sure it it'll be right for your birdie who likes the free-falling stream, but it's something to look into at least.
